  9.      Useful Editor (Ued) is a small (about 35K), fast, ASCII editor that is
  10.      suitable for a wide variety of text manipulation tasks.  Some of Ued's
  11.      features include:

  14.         - files as large as 1000 characters wide and 10,000 lines long
  15.         - file size is only limited by available memory

  45.      Ued is a shareware editor.  This means that you only pay for it if you
  46.      decide to continue using it.  If you don't think that it is worth the
  47.      asking price, delete the program, or better yet give it to someone who
  48.      might find it useful.  However if you do decide to keep Ued after a 2
  49.      week trial period, please send $20 (see REGISTRATION FORM on next
  50.      page) to:

  57.      The shareware fee pays for unlimited use of Ued by a single person.
  58.      You are allowed (and encouraged) to give away copies of Ued with the
  59.      understanding that each person receiving a copy is under the same
  60.      obligation as you are to send in the shareware fee if they decide to
  61.      keep it.  You can upload Ued to other computer systems, either free or
  62.      commercial, as long as this archive remains intact, with the copyright
  63.      and shareware notices unchanged.

  65.      Useful Editor can be installed on LANS.  In such situations I ask only
  66.      that the LAN Administrator estimate the maximum number of people that
  67.      will be making "simultaneous" use of Ued and pay the shareware fee
  68.      based on that estimate.  I do not expect that the limit be closely
  69.      monitored or enforced (I appreciate how much trouble that would be),
  70.      but I do expect that the estimate will be revised (and additional fees
  71.      paid) should a substantial increase in the number of nodes on the LAN
  72.      and Ued usage occur.

  74.      No guarantee is made as to the functionality of this software; however
  75.      it has been tested quite thoroughly by a large number of people.  If
  76.      it doesn't do what you want, don't keep it and send no money.

  78.      Please support the shareware concept.  Shareware means useful programs
  79.      at a fraction of the cost you might pay for them commercially.  You
  80.      can try-before-you-buy, and you are not subjected to copy protection
  81.      or other atrocities that many software vendors inflict on their
  82.      customers.  Software updates can also be distributed much faster than
  83.      is possible through normal channels.

  304.           XTs and others) misreading the function keys unless NumLock was

  307.           end of the longest line of text in all instances
  308.         - you can now have keys "automatically" typed into Ued (say via a
  309.           TSR or the Window's 3.0 clipboard) at a much higher rate
  310.         - Uedcfg will now generate a "ued.cfg" file or can be forced to by
  311.           typing "uedcfg /s" and will restore an older configuration with
  312.           the command "uedcfg /r"
  313.         - you cannot save to a "Read Only" file when automatic backups are
  314.           on any more (Ued used to make the .bak file Read Only then save
  315.           the file)
